Introduction
DirtGlue products are based on acrylic emulsion polymer technology and
are specifically formulated to bond soil particles together. Applied
to the surface of the soil, DirtGlue polymer emulsions form a
protective barrier that eliminates dust, prevents mudslides and other
forms of erosion caused by nature and man. When mixed into the soil,
DirtGlue polymer emulsions create a robust and durable driving
surface.
DirtGlue
products are formulated to consistently yield the following
competitive advantages:
·
Excellent
film-forming properties over a broad temperature range
·
Superb
adhesion to fine particles, both inorganic and organic
·
Unusual film
strength and flexibility over a wide temperature range
·
Remarkable
chemical, thermal and ultraviolet light stability
·
Environmentally benign and biodegradable
Environmental
considerations
DirtGlue polymer emulsions have been proven to be environmentally safe
products.
DirtGlue
polymer emulsions:
·
Contain no
harmful chemical solvents
·
Do not emit
any volatile organic compounds (VOC)
·
Are
non-corrosive and non-flammable
·
Do not change
the pH of the soil
·
Have no
harmful effects on people, plants, animals, fish, or other aquatic
life
As
water-soluble products, DirtGlue polymer emulsions may be applied to
environmentally sensitive areas such as wetland buffer zones because
they have no adverse effects on groundwater. With DirtGlue polymer
emulsions, soil particles act as a filter. The polymer molecules
remain near the surface as they bond soil particles together. Nothing
but water goes deeper into the ground.
Dust control
DirtGlue Light polymer emulsion provides superior, more durable, and
environmentally acceptable dust suppression than other conventional
approaches such as water or calcium chloride. The high molecular
weight materials of acrylic emulsions serve as binders to adhere the
small dust particles together, forming a stiff surface crust. Since
the polymeric binders are non-volatile and water-insoluble, they do
not evaporate, wash away under rainy conditions or contaminate the
groundwater.
Depending
upon application conditions (temperature, soil/surface type, product
dilution ratio, treatment level etc.) the product dries within a short
time to provide a tough non-dusting surface crust. Undisturbed
surfaces (soil, sand, or
coal piles) may only require a single treatment, while surfaces
subjected to frequent surface stresses (for example, vehicles on
unimproved roads) may require a programmed application cycle to
maintain optimum performance.
Erosion control
Soil
erosion is another common problem facing Project Managers and Road
Agents. Unlike other methods, however, which attempt to deal only with
the symptoms, specifically sediment, the appropriately selected
DirtGlue Light polymer emulsion cures the underlying problem by
creating a protective barrier on the surface of the soil that prevents
erosion from taking place.
Conventional sediment control methods include installing hay bales,
filter fabric, and temporary settling ponds. Each of these methods
requires ongoing maintenance to continue their effectiveness. By
preventing erosion, DirtGlue Light polymer emulsion eliminates the
expense of these traditional methods since there is virtually no
sediment runoff.
Hydro-seeding
DirtGlue Light polymer emulsion can also be mixed and applied with
hydro-seed to hold both seed mix and the soil in place until the seed
germinates. Hydroseeding and/or mulching using DirtGlue Light polymer
emulsion is an effective solution for the unique problem of
stabilizing steep embankments.
Driving
surfaces
Using
the proprietary formulation of DirtGlue Industrial
Polymer Emulsion, applications are capable of creating robust and
durable vehicle driving surfaces. The diluted product is mixed into
native soil or newly crushed quarry rock and compacted thoroughly. A
properly installed driving surface application is expected to provide
a relatively low maintenance all-weather surface.
A
completed DirtGlue driving surface (e.g. golf cart path) is easily
maintained by spraying properly diluted DirtGlue polymer emulsion
directly onto the surface and by allowing it to dry. Repairs if needed
are easily accomplished by spreading pre-mixed soil and DirtGlue
polymer emulsion onto the damaged and/or worn driving surface followed
by compaction.
Golf
cart pathways, trails, recreational areas, and other environmentally
sensitive driving surface projects developed and constructed with
DirtGlue polymer emulsions are the ideal solution.
Attributes for such a solution include material and methods that:
·
Complements
the natural beauty of the course landscape design, not interfere with
it
·
Can be used
where traditional materials would be prohibited (E.g. near designated
wetlands)
·
Is easily
repairable (a quick DirtGlue slurry mix in a pail makes for repairs
with the greatest of ease for the course maintenance grounds crews)
·
Provides cost
savings
Pothole repair
Excellent pothole repair is being accomplished by using the
proprietary formulation of DirtGlue Industrial polymer emulsions in
connection with the recently developed DirtGlue catalyst.
DirtGlue catalyst is a proprietary dry mixture of inorganic calcium
and carbon compounds that is being mixed with Recycled Asphalt to
create a dry blend for pothole repairs in asphalt roadways.
This
blend together with DirtGlue Industrial polymer emulsion has the
capability of being applied when temperatures are at or above
freezing.
Properly applied, the result is a durable, tough pothole repair, that
creates a strong bond between the applied aggregate and the
surrounding asphalt.
Cost
effectiveness
Besides
excellent performance and an outstanding environmental track record,
DirtGlue polymer emulsion products provide following cost advantages:
·
Long-lasting
effectiveness of individual DirtGlue applications compared to
traditional practices
·
Efficient
application procedures that provide improved productivity of labor
force
·
No special
equipment (read: investment) needed for successful applications.
Standard construction/landscaping equipment sufficient.
·
EPA compliance
reduces risk of penalties or costly delays on construction sites
